Encouraging words from a publishing agent...

'I enjoyed reading it very much and I do think that you may well have the basis for a successful novel (and series, because that is what publishers and readers want.)'

'I get the impression that you have enjoyed writing it so far, and I hope that this is something you will continue to have fun with.'

'Good luck with your novel, and do let me know how you get on.'

The Journey

As we wrapped up the final editing stage today I had a feeling of nostalgia come over me. Writing this book has been such a journey for both of us. The things we've done whilst writing, the food, the debates, the laughs, it's all made it so enjoyable. The best thing is we've finished, I mean we've actually written a whole book, beginning to end. The worst thing is I miss writing it. Although we've got plenty more story ideas, not forgetting to mention the next two books in the series to write, Lipgloss on Your Wings will always be the first. Every page was a learning curve, every deleted scene was a driver making us more determined than ever to make it work. And my god we hope it works! Ha!
So many things have changed and been changed back and taken out and replaced with whatever over the course of writing our book. But the thing that's remained the same is the characters, all the way through. Sometimes if I'm writing something that's completely wrong I can feel the character fighting against it, they just won't let me. So if there's anything in the book that might make you thing 'What the hell..." Don't blame us. When we talk about our characters it's like we're talking about real people because they've come to mean that much to us.
Friends have asked me, "What's it like writing a book with your sister?" And I can never think of a reply that describes it. We've never argued about it, just pushed each other for the best. We'd sit together on chairs that made our bums numb for hours just throwing questions and info to and fro and because we're sisters we're not afraid to read something the other has written and just go 'nope, thats rubbish' whilst proceeding to delete the whole paragraph.
It's been a challenge which is something neither of us are afraid of. In fact I think we completely own it after some of the things we've gone through together.
All i've got left to say is if or when our book makes it into a bookshop I'm going to be one of those people lurking down the isle waiting for someone to just so much as glance at it so I can jump out and say "That's ours! Mine and my sisters!" They might think I'm crazy but it's like something me and Soph were talking about the other day, when you're at a party or in a club and your favourite song comes on despite all the other people that are wooping and jumping around you want to make it known that it's YOUR favourite song and anyone who wants to dispute that can just try and take it away from you.
Ten o'clock at night, work at 7am and feeling a little stir crazy will lead to posts like the one above.

Ending is written!

Like the title says, except the book isn't finished. We're about 3/4 of the way through. I had an inspiration that was just right to capture the ending scene of the book. Now to fill in the gaps!

EXTENDED SYNOPSIS

Anna is an ordinary girl, OK, her mum is in prison and she carries the burden of guilt of the man her mum killed with her every day but other than that; she loves her gay best friend Boiye, fashionable clothes and vampire novels and is convinced her own vampire romance is waiting to happen to her. Alaster, the hot new mystery guy at her school, Yew Wood High, fit’s the bill. Quiet, dark and brooding is he what she’s been waiting for? She convinces herself he is, unaware that something or someone else is waiting to become her destiny. Anna must come to terms with realities she never expected. What will she choose when faced with an alternative to what she’s wanted all along? She needs to pass her exams whilst trying to decipher an ancient curse and Anna must learn to balance the two as she lives her own fairy tale. And who’d of thought it might actually be difficult as well as dangerous!?

Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairy tale.

“Wow, this isn’t what I was expecting…”

It Continues...

I have been working some more and wrote a very funny scene last night, it was fun to write and my fingers were working overtime on the keyboard, some scenes are easier to write than others and last night was one of those scenes that gets written very quickly.

Still reading...

In between writing I'm still reading plenty, the most recent being Maggie Stiefvater's Linger, which is the second book in the Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy. The first book Shiver was a tear jerker and a brilliant story so I was eagerly awaiting the arrival of Linger and it didn't disappoint! I do recommend because Linger also bought me to tears!

Being thorough!

Me and Sophie wrote a scene on Friday night (an exciting scene I might add) set in Jarry'ds bedroom, easy! Anyway, we wrote the scene and had a lovely long debate on how the bedroom furniture would be set out, diagrams and all! We like to be thorough!

This week i've...

A good author advised 'to be a good author read lots of books' so i've taken that advice and have been getting through books this week like nobodies business! 'K, so i've read 3 this week but still... not bad! This weeks have been Firespell by Chloe Neill, The Splendour Falls by Rosemary Clement-Moore and Linger by Maggie Stiefvater I would recommend them all! Peace out xx

Prologue written!

Okay so I've decided to write the Prologue finally and I'm 4 chapters into the book.
When starting our book me & Soph knew the basics of what was going to happen but sometimes the characters backgrounds or details unravel as we're writing, so halfway through chapter 4 a certain character's story unravelled for me and it happened to become the Prologue.
I'm pleased with it (Sophie amended any mistakes for me) and I hope the readers will like it too!

It begins...

Anna is your typical teenage girl, she loves Vampire novels and dreams of her own Vampire romance. Suddenly drop dead gorgeous Alaster Hunter arrives at Yew Wood High. But... is he what she desires or is something or even someone else waiting around the corner.
Anna must come to terms with realities she never expected, but will love see her through?
